This area on the border of Germany and Belgium consists of large tracts of forest through which you can drive for hours without encountering anyone. The region lies in the eastern part of the middle-high plateau Eifel-Ardennes, sandwiched between the Moselle and Rhine rivers. Most of it is in Germany, the start and end around Botrange area. 

The route takes you from the High Fens, our favorite gravel destination in Belgium, to a gravel paradise just across the border. The Eifel reminded us of the vast forests of southern Scandinavia. It is incredible that this region, yet fairly unknown to the general public, has such beautiful nature. We planned the first part of our route through as many reservoirs as possible, whose views from the meters-high dams add an extra dimension to this cycling adventure.

With ease you ride alone for hours through the dense forests. Dismount occasionally and imagine yourself in silence. Peer among the trees and across the meadows. With a little luck you will see a herd of wild boar entering the forest edges.
